By the end of the forecasted period, mobile should account for 86.4% of all telephone connections in the region, compared with 77.7% currently, as the number of mobile subscribers is forecasted to have grown by an average of 12.9% to 2,946.1 million by the end of 2013. At that time, mobile penetration should have reached 82.6%, compared with 54.0% at the end of June 2009. China and India are by far the region's two largest mobile markets with 695.2 million and 427.3 million mobile subscribers respectively at the end of 2Q 2009. Together these two countries generate 61.1% of the region's mobile connections. On the other hand, Hong Kong and Singapore enjoy by far the highest mobile penetration rates in Asia with 167.2% and 132.9% mobile penetration respectively at the end of June 2009. Pakistan, Vietnam, India and Indonesia have enjoyed the highest levels of mobile subscriber growth over the last 5 years, with average growth rates of 101.7%, 89.7%, 65.5% and 49.8% respectively.
