PHILADELPHIA--(Business Wire)--
The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), in cooperation with the
Library of Congress, has launched dpBestflow.org, shorthand for "Digital
Photography Best Practices and Workflow," a website that offers definitive new
guidelines for digital photography best practices which streamline and improve
the process, production and preservation of digital photography. The launch
event was held on November 11th at the U.S. Navy Memorial Auditorium in
Washington, D.C.

The agenda featured dpBestflow educators Judy Herrmann and Jay Kinghorn, Project
Director Richard Anderson, and Senior Project Manager Peter Krogh. Special
guests included Phil Michel of the Library of Congress Management Team; Richard
McCleary, lecturer and author; Richard Kelly, ASMP President; and Eugene Mopsik,
ASMP Executive Director.

In addition to the website, the dpBestflow initiative encompasses educational
seminars and the new books, "Digital Photography Best Practices and Workflow
Handbook" (Anderson/Russotti, Focal Press 2009) and "The DAM Book" (Krogh,
O`Reilly Media, 2009). All of these resources will be available to the entire
visual arts community.

According to ASMP Executive Director Eugene Mopsik, "With the launch of
dpBestflow.org, professional photographers now have access to important
strategies for the long term preservation and protection of their work. ASMP is
pleased to be working on this important project with the Library of Congress,
and we look forward to making professionals aware of this unique resource
through nationwide educational sessions."

ASMP educators will promote dpBestflow.org and offer learning sessions to the
photographic community through a series of events. 2009 sessions are planned for
Cincinnati, Ohio (November 13th) and Atlanta GA (December 4th). In 2010,
seminars are scheduled for Miami, FL (February 18th); Anaheim, CA (February
19th); Philadelphia, PA (March 4th); Las Vegas, NV (March 8th); Los Angeles, CA
(March 13th); San Francisco, CA (May 20th); and New York, NY (May 20th). For
