Southwest Airlines Chairman and CEO, Gary C. Kelly, Named to Lincoln National
Corporation's Board of Directors

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lincoln National Corporation
(NYSE: LNC) announced today that Gary C. Kelly has been elected to the
company's board of directors, effective November 4, 2009, for a term expiring
in 2011.

Kelly currently serves as chairman, president and CEO of the nation's fifth
largest airline, Southwest Airlines. A 22-year Southwest veteran, Kelly began
his career as controller, moving up to chief financial officer and vice
president finance, then executive vice president and CFO, before being
promoted to vice chairman and CEO in 2004. Kelly assumed the role of chairman
and president in 2008. Kelly is a member of the Financial Executives Institute
and the Texas Society of CPAs, and he serves on the McCombs School Accounting
Advisory Board and the Advisory Council at the University of Texas at Austin.
