AES Tiete's Net Income in 3Q09 Was R$ 221.4 Million, to be Fully Distributed
as Dividends

SAO PAULO, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AES Tiete S.A. (OTC: AESAY
and AESYY; Bovespa: GETI3 and GETI4) today announced its results for the 3rd
quarter 2009.
Comments by Mr. Britaldo Pedrosa Soares - Chief Executive Officer and
Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer:
"AES Tiete's EBITDA was R$ 361.7 million, 8.8% higher than in 3Q08, while
net income reached R$ 221.4 million, representing an increase of 17.9%
compared to the same period of the previous year. The price of energy sold
through the bilateral contract had its annual adjustment in July by the IGP-M,
moving up from R$ 149.72 to R$ 152.00. A decline in costs and expenses and
higher net financial income positively impacted the Company's results.
"The distribution of the totality of its net income for 3Q09 -- R$ 221.4
million -- in the form of dividends was approved by the Board of Directors on
November 12, 2009, reinforcing its shareholder compensation policy that has
been practiced by the Company since 2006."
