SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Trade Promotion Mission for
China dispatched by the Gangnam District Office (Team leader Maeng Jeong-ju,
district head) achieved 301 trade consultations amounting to US $25.99 million
at the "Korea-China Economic Commerce Consultation Event" held in Chengdu,
Sichuan on October 27 and in Chongqing on October 29.

The dispatched team composed of promising 15 small and medium businesses

Chengdu and Chongqing are the center of major development in western China
rising as new economic special zones. As regions with mass expansion of
transportation and distribution infrastructure, they are gaining much
attention from Korean as well as prominent companies worldwide as newly rising
regions to invest in and advance into. In particular, these two cities are
showing a rapid growth rate of over 10 percent despite the world economic
crisis and advancing as leaders of economic growth in China, surpassing
southeastern seashore cities such as Shanghai and Shenzhen that used to get
much attention as previous economic centers.

On the other hand, the delegates from Gangnam District, including its head,
held an event on October 26 to explain the conditions of the local market
together with the Korean Consulate General Il-du Kim in Chengdu and the Trade
Director Yeong-jun Lee of Chengdu KBC. On October 27, they discussed during a
luncheon with the Vice-president Liu shu hua of the Chengdu Branch of the
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade on measures to increase
economic exchanges between company representatives of the two cities.

In the afternoon of October 27, at the guide of Vice District Head Li da jiang
of the People's Government of Jinjiang District, the delegates visited the
Tian ya shi Elementary School, high schools with human and management system
exchanges in education between the two districts, and the central industrial
road in Chengdu, Chung Xi Road, as well as examined the city publicity hall of
Chengdu.

Further, the delegates were introduced to the present situation of Chengdu by
Clerk Zhou en yuan and District Head Zhang ji huan at an event held at a hotel
in Jinjiang District and the Korean delegates introduced cases of outstanding
achievement such as Gangnam District's electronic government and medical
tourism, discussing measures for continued exchanges and cooperation between
the two cities. Representatives of Jingjian District said they would dispatch
delegates in the future to Gangnam District to personally experience and learn
the building method of Gangnam's outstanding e-government system and its
management system.

Further, Gangnam District delegates invited on October 28 businessmen
operating in Chongqing, including the president of the Korean Society and a
successful businessman in the city, O-cheol Kwon, and provided information on
the current market situation and business know-how to the participating
businessmen.

Delegates from Gangnam District visited Yubei District, the trade and economic
center of Chongqing and held an interview with Vice-manager Wang yi of the
Management Committee to raise mutual understanding and create the basis to
strengthen friendship between the two cities.

In Chengdu, 185 local buyers participated, showing much interest in the
outstanding products, technology and sophisticated design of the participating
companies from Gangnam District.

Of these, Hansseason2, a maker of fusion Hanbok (tradition Korean costume)
signed a contract with V2, a large wedding business with over 12 branches in
China, to deliver Hanboks worth about KRW 150 million annually. Wedding dress
maker OM JULIA company is also proceeding with an export contract with V2.

Also, CNM Cosmetics, a maker of functional cosmetics, provided a quotation and
is pursuing exporting its products to On Live, a Chinese company that delivers
Italian products to over 5,000 skin care centers in China, earning the
opportunity to export abroad for the first time.

Other than the above, participating companies including Chunho Health Food and
Daehan Infrared Ray, Shinji Foodpia, Sposa Bella, Elamo, Sindo DNT, Vajra,
Chimex Produce, Tulip International, Beauty Club Red, Solpostech and Ancient
Future actively engaged in contract consultation with local buyers amidst
favorable comments.

A representative of a participating company said, "I was surprised by the
large scale of the market size of China's western region and its endless
consumption potential. I am very happy that it was an opportunity to gauge
ample export possibilities from the favorable response we got from local
buyers on our products."

On the other hand, Gangnam District and the Korea International Trade
Association plan to continuously support follow-up marketing activities such
as investigating buyers' credit so as to lead the consultation achievements in
China into actual contracts.
