Mexico stocks slump as Walmex drags

MEXICO CITY | Thu Nov 12, 2009 3:08pm EST

MEXICO CITY Nov 12 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks fell sharply on Thursday, as riskier assets worldwide dropped following a weak forecast from Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) and comments from policy makers around the world that hurt confidence in a global economic recovery.

The IPC stock index .MXX fell as much 1.07 percent to 30,763 one day after the IPC hit a 17-month high and Wal-Mart de Mexico (WALMEXV.MX) reached an all-time high. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle; Editing by James Dalgleish)
