RAMALLAH, West Bank Nov 12 (Reuters) - The body responsible for organising Palestinian elections in January on Thursday confirmed it had recommended postponing the vote, the head of the Central Elections Commission said.

"We met today and we decided to tell the president, who called these elections, that we cannot have elections at the time he scheduled them," Hana Nasir told a news conference.

A senior aide to President Mahmoud Abbas said earlier he would accept whatever the commission were to recommend.
