SEB Announces Growth of 33% in Net Revenue and 18% in Adjusted EBITDA in 3Q09

SAO PAULO, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SEB - Sistema Educacional
Brasileiro S.A. (Bovespa: SEBB11; Bloomberg: SEBB11.BZ; REUTERS: SEBB11.SA) -
announced its results for the third quarter of 2009 (3Q09).

SEB recorded net revenue growth of 33.4% with a significant 95.2% increase in
Distance Learning revenue, a solid 48.1% growth in K-12 education revenue and
a strong 27.4% growth in Learning System revenue.

This growth was mainly driven by the increase in student numbers, which was
51.3% in the case of Distance Learning, 22.8% for K-12 education, boosted by
the acquisition of Pueri Domus with its close to 3,000 students, and 28.4% in
the case of Private Sector Partnerships, also positively impacted by the
acquisition. New agreements signed by Editora C.O.C. for the second half of
2009, totaling approximately 6,500 students, combined with the numbers from
Pueri Domus drove the 7.3% student increase in the Public Sector Partnerships.

Adjusted EBITDA increased by 17.8%, from R$ 25.8 million in 3Q08 to R$ 30.4
million in 3Q09. In 9M09, adjusted EBITDA totaled R$ 59.2 million, growth of
22.4% year-on-year, for adjusted EBITDA margin of 20.3% compared to 21.1% in
9M08. Adjusted net income totaled R$23.9 million in 3Q09, 11.5% up on 3Q08,
and totaled R$ 51.5 million in 9M09, an increase of 20.8% year-on-year, for
Adjusted Net Margin of 17.6% versus 18.6% in 9M08.

General and Administrative (G&A) expenses increased 15.0%, from R$ 12.7
million in 3Q08 to R$ 14.7 million in 3Q09, while recurring G&A rose 12.9% in
absolute terms, from R$ 12.2 million in 3Q08 to R$ 13.7 million in 3Q09. As a
percentage of net revenue, recurring G&A fell from 13.8% in 3Q08 to 11.7% in
3Q09, despite the Pueri Domus acquisition.
