TOKYO Nov 13 (Reuters) - Japanese transport minister Seiji Maehara said at a news conference on Friday that he has received notice from Japan Airlines Corp 9205.T that the struggling carrier would apply for a mediated debt restructuring scheme.

The scheme, called "Alternative Dispute Resolution", would trigger a suspension of loan payments at JAL, Asia's largest carrier by revenue.

This would reduce the amount of funds the loss-making airline needs to secure in the near term. (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo)
