BRUSSELS Nov 13 (Reuters) - European Union competition authorities aim to decide before the end of the year whether state aid given by German authorities to Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg (LBBW) complies with EU rules.

The comments from the European Commission followed a meeting between Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes and LBBW's owners on Friday.

"Good progress was made and the Commission is hoping to be able to reach a final decision before the end of the year," the EU's executive arm said in a statement. (Reporting by Foo Yun Chee, editing by Dale Hudson)
