US copper rallies to 13-1/2-mth peak on weak dlr

NEW YORK Nov 16 (Reuters) - U.S. copper futures rallied to their highest levels since late September 2008 on Monday morning, with a weaker dollar and an improved global economic outlook fueling the move.

By 10:06 a.m. EST (1506 GMT), copper for December delivery HGZ9 shot up 10.00 cents, or 3.4 percent, to $3.0725 a lb on the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX division, its loftiest level since Sept. 25. (Reporting by Chris Kelly; Editing by John Picinich)
