MEXICO CITY Nov 17 (Reuters) - Mexico's peso sank on Tuesday, hurt by broad gains in the U.S. dollar and worries about a possible credit rating downgrade by Standard & Poor's after the agency said it was looking at Mexico's future growth prospects.

The peso MXN= MEX01 lost as much as 1.01 percent to 13.13 per dollar as the U.S. currency rebounded from a recent 15-month low after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's rare comments on the currency spurred traders to trim long-term bets against the greenback.
