Stephen Root cast in two films

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Stephen Root, currently in theaters with "The Men Who Stare at Goats," has lined up roles in the ensemble comedy "Cedar Rapids" and the Robert Redford historical drama "The Conspirator."

In "Rapids," Root joins Ed Helms, Anne Heche and John C. Reilly. He will play the proud owner of an insurance company and Helms' boss. Miguel Arteta will direct for Fox Searchlight.

In "Conspirator," Root will play a principal witness for the prosecution in the trail of a Confederate sympathizer who is tried as a conspirator in the Lincoln assassination. James McAvoy and Robin Wright also star.

Root is perhaps best known for his TV work, either in "NewsRadio" or voicing characters in cartoons such as "King of the Hill."
