NEW YORK (Reuters) - California Attorney General Edmund Brown said he has reached a billion-dollar settlement with a major bank over securities fraud charges.

Brown said in an advisory he will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. eastern time. He did not name the bank.

The settlement is expected to recoup hundreds of millions of dollars for California investors, the advisory said.
