Indonesia c.bank may limit 1-mth SBI ownership-source
JAKARTA |
JAKARTA Nov 19 (Reuters) - Indonesia's central bank is studying the possibility of limiting foreign ownership of one-month central bank debt (SBI), the shortest SBI tenor, as an option to control hot money flows, a source with knowledge of the study said on Thursday.
The source said such a move would be aimed at getting foreign investors to shift to longer maturities.
There are currently 1-month, 3-month and 6-month SBIs, which are used by the central bank to absorb excess funds in the market, but also have attracted strong inflows of foreign capital.
