Chile peso off 1 pct on strong dlr, stock falls

SANTIAGO Nov 20 (Reuters) - Chile's peso CLP= fell 1.01 percent in early Friday trade, extending a sharp sell-off a day earlier on wider dollar strength and global stock losses, traders said.

The peso fell to 505.80/506.00 per dollar compared with Thursday's close of 500.70/501.20, which was the peso's biggest daily drop in nearly seven months.

Traders said a fresh warning on Thursday of possible central bank intervention to curb a peso appreciation of around 27 percent against the dollar year-to-date had added some secondary pressure to the currency. (Reporting by Froilan Romero and Maria Jose Latorre, Editing by W Simon )
