Indonesia's largest cement maker PT Semen Gresik Tbk
(SMGR.JK) is looking at building a cement packaging factory in
Papua, with a plan to build a port if needed, said President
Director Dwi Sutjipto.

- PRESIDENT APPOINTS 10 SPECIAL STAFF
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed a presidential decree appointing 10 special staff, said spokesman Dino Patti Djalal. Palace sources said the new staff included a new presidential spokesman for domestic affairs Julian Adrian Pasha. (Jakarta Post)
- SUMITOMO APPOINTED TO BUILD LAHENDONG 4 GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT
State-owned power company PT PLN appointed Japan's Sumitomo construction unit to build the Lahedong 4 geothermal power plant in North Sulawesi with capacity of 20 megawatts and the contract would be signed in 2010, said the Planning and Technology director of PT PLN Bambang Praptono. (Koran Tempo)
- SUTARTO ALIMOESO APPOINTED AS NEW BULOG CHIEF
Sutarto Alimoeso, director general for food crops production at the agriculture ministry, has been appointed the new chief of state procurement agency Bulog and would be sworn in next Monday, said State enterprises minister Mustafa Abubakar. (Koran Tempo)

* Indonesia's index .JKSE edged down 0.62 percent, with Astra International (ASII.JK) dropping 3 percent and largest lender Bank Mandiri (BMRI.JK) off 1.6 percent.
* U.S. stocks slid on Thursday as another batch of economic data pointed to the fragility of the recovery and a brokerage's dim view on the semiconductor sector hit technology shares. [.N]
* U.S. crude futures fell more than 2 percent on Thursday as a stronger dollar weighed and weaker equities raised concern about the economy and a potential rebound in energy demand. [O/R]
