HELSINKI, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Nokia (NOK1V.HE) is to cut 330 research and development jobs in Finland and Denmark as it focuses on launching fewer, but more iconic, phones.

The world's top cellphone maker has launched around 50 models per year, but aims to focus on fewer, more popular models, a spokesman said on Friday.

Nokia has cut jobs and costs across its organisation this year -- aiming to cut costs at its key handset unit alone by more than 700 million euros ($1.04 billion) to counter plunging demand. (Reporting by Tarmo Virki; Editing by Dan Lalor) ($1 = 0.6722 euro)
