WARSAW Nov 24 (Reuters) - Chief executive of one of Poland's largest banks, Pekao BAPE.WA, resigned on Tuesday, the bank said in a statement.

Jan Krzysztof Bielecki's resignation would become effective in early January, 2010, the statement said.

The bank's spokesperson declined to comment.

Polish media have been speculating recently that Bielecki, Poland's former prime minister, may be planning to return to politics. (Writing by Karolina Slowikowska; Editing Bernard Orr)
