TOKYO Nov 26 (Reuters) - The Japanese brokerage unit of Citigroup Inc (C.N) has appointed Brian Mccappin as president and chief executive officer.

Mccappin will take up his new position at Citigroup Global Markets Japan on Dec. 1, replacing Sim S. Lim, who is set to retire, Citigroup said.

Mccappin will assume his new duties in addition to his current post as head of the unit's fixed income and equity trading operations, Citigroup said on Wednesday.

Michimasa Naka, who heads fixed income and equity sales, will become deputy president of the Japanese firm, the company said.

Citigroup Global Markets Japan was previously known as Nikko Citigroup. The company was renamed on Oct. 1 when Citigroup completed the sale of Nikko Cordial, a retail broker, and its underwriting business, to Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (8306.T).
