TOKYO Nov 26 (Reuters) - Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii said on Thursday that Japan must take appropriate steps if currency moves are "abnormal" while declining to comment on current levels in the foreign exchange market.

Fujii said he is closely watching currency market trends and reiterated his support for Washington's strong dollar policy.

"(U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy) Geithner said a strong dollar is in the interests of the U.S. and my support for that stance remains unchanged."
