TOKYO Nov 26 (Reuters) - Japan's top government spokesman said on Thursday he is closely watching currency moves, including the potential impact of the yen's rise on the nation's economy.
"The dollar is moving at around 86.50 yen and I'm aware of the yen rising," Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano told a news conference. "But I don't grasp what is causing it."
Asked if Japan would respond appropriately to the yen's rise, he said he is keeping close watch on the foreign exchange markets with Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii, who is in charge of currency policy.
