Landkom sees FY loss in line with H1
* Continues cost cuts * Says optimistic about future * Sees total harvest for 2010 up 17 pct on 2009 Nov 26 (Reuters) - Landkom International LKI.L, a Ukrainian producer oil seed rape and wheat, said on Thursday its loss for the year would be in line with that of the first half as it continued to implement cost cuts.
The company, which had posted a first-half pretax loss of $16.6 million, said it was optimistic about the future after completing its autumn planting and preparing land for next spring's planting campaign.
The company planted 16,500 hectares in 2009 of oil seed rape, an increase of about 13 percent over 2008, and prepared 10,000 hectares of land for spring planting.
Landkom, whose land bank currently stands at about 70,000 hectares, said its total harvest for 2010 would be at least 34,000 hectares, up 17 percent on 2009.
The company, which had been reviewing proposals to cut overheads per hectare, said, "Further reductions will be facilitated by the introduction of new farming methods and new operational IT systems."
Landkom shares closed at 6.125 pence on Wednesday on the London Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Tresa Sherin Morera in Bangalore; Editing by Vinu Pilakkott) ((tresa.sherin@thomsonreuters.com; +91 80 4135 5800; Reuters Messaging: tresa.sherin@thomsonreuters.com))
