UK's Brown says he, Draghi see Dubai containable
PORT OF SPAIN |
PORT OF SPAIN Nov 27 (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Friday he and Mario Draghi, chairman of the Financial Stability Board, were confident that the Dubai debt problem was containable and localised.
"I've talked to ... Draghi in my capacity as president of the G20 and I believe that we are satisfied that (with) the arrangements in place, the mechanisms that we've got in place to monitor what's happening, we can be sure that this is something that is both containable and is localised," he told broadcasters in Trinidad and Tobago where he is attending a Commonwealth summit.
The Financial Stability Board is an international body of regulators and central bankers. (Reporting by Adrian Croft; Editing by Peter Griffiths) ((adrian.croft@reuters.com ; +44 207 542 7947; Reuters Messaging: adrian.croft.reuters.com@reuters.net))
