RAMBOUILLET, France Nov 27 (Reuters) - France is studying the possible sale of a Mistral class warship to Russia, despite concerns expressed by Georgia, French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said on Friday.

"I confirm that we are currently examining an official request from the Russian government for the purchase of a ship of this class," he told a news conference following a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

"France is open to cooperation with Russia including in defence," he said. (Writing by James Mackenzie) ((Reuters Messaging james.mackenzie.reuters.com@reuters.net, Paris Newsroom +33 1 4949 5339; james.mackenzie@reuters.com))
