Japan's Hirano: govt appreciates BOJ funding move

TOKYO Dec 1 (Reuters) - Japan's top government spokesman said on Tuesday that the government welcomes the Bank of Japan's decision to start a new funding operation.

"The central bank has responded quickly and appropriately to the current economic situation," Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano told a news conference.

"It is important to support the economy with fiscal and monetary policy."
