CORRECTED - US consumer confidence nears year high-ABC
(Changes the week-ended date to Nov. 29, not Nov. 27)
NEW YORK, Dec 1 (Reuters) - ABC News said on Tuesday its weekly measure of U.S. consumer confidence rose in the latest week, and views on the buying climate hit their best levels in more than a year.
The ABC Consumer Comfort Index rose to -45 in the week ended Nov. 29 from -47 the prior week.
While the index now stands three points higher than its 2009 average of -48, it has struggled to break above -42, the highest reading this year, which it reached in May.
Since May, the index has read -45 five times, but has failed to push higher.
The CCI touched a record low of -54 in the week to Dec. 1, 2008, and matched that reading in the week to Jan. 25, 2009. It has not seen positive ground since March 2007.
