RPT-BOJ's Shirakawa: no request by PM for more easing (For more stories on the Japanese economy, click [ID:nECONJP])

TOKYO Dec 2 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama did not make any requests for additional monetary easing by the Bank of Japan in a meeting with BOJ Governor Masaaki Shirakawa on Wednesday, Shirakawa told reporters.

They exchanged opinions about prices and the currency market, and shared the same view on deflation, Shirakawa said.

Shirakawa said he briefed Hatoyama on the BOJ's emergency policy meeting on Tuesday at which it decided to offer banks more short-term funds, relieving government pressure on the central bank to help the economy.
