* Scania to extend shortened working week through H1 2010

* Says extension will carry no reduction in wages

(Adds detail, background)

STOCKHOLM, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Scania (SCVb.ST) said on Wednesday it would extend its four-day working week through the first six months of 2010, but without payment reductions, as it sought to adjust to the plunge in market demand.

"It is a new agreement from today which will run for six months from the turn of the year," Scania's spokesman Hans-Ake Danielsson told Reuters.

"There will be no reduction in payment," he added.

The new deal with the labour unions would still entail savings for the Swedish truck maker, as workers would draw on flexible working hour schemes while efficiency-based bonuses would be suspended during the period.

Scania introduced a four-day working week in June this year, a deal which runs through 2009. Under the deal, employees agreed to a 10 percent cut in wages during the six month period. (Editing by Jon Loades-Carter) ((Stockholm Newsroom, tel: +46-8-700 1017, e-mail: stockholm.newsroom@reuters.com))
