World Bank to speed $3.75 bln S.Africa Eskom loan

WASHINGTON Dec 2 (Reuters) - The World Bank is looking to fast track a $3.75 billion loan for South African power utility Eskom ESCJ.UL and is set to consider the request in March 2010, a World Bank official said on Wednesday.

The official told Reuters the loan request would be presented to the World Bank board for approval in March. The utility has embarked on a $51.4 billion power supply expansion program to enable it to meet fast-rising demand.
