NEW YORK Dec 3 (Reuters) - The 450-megawatt Unit 3 at Capital Power Corp (CPX.TO)/TransAlta Corp's (TA.TO) Genesee coal-fired power station in Alberta shut by Dec. 3, the Alberta Electric System Operator said in a report.

Genesee is located in Genesee about 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Edmonton.
