NEW YORK Dec 3 (Reuters) - TransAlta Corp's (TA.TO) 406-megawatt Unit 4 at the Sundance coal-fired power plant in Alberta shut on Dec. 3, the Alberta Electric System Operator said in a report.

Since the middle of November, the unit shut on Nov. 17, returned by Nov. 29, shut again by Nov. 30, returned again by Dec. 2 and shut on Dec. 3.

Sundance is located about 40 miles (70 km) west of Edmonton, Alberta, on the south shore of Wabamun Lake.
