BRUSSELS | Fri Dec 11, 2009 7:03am EST

BRUSSELS Dec 11 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday the International Monetary Fund should examine the issue of taxing bankers' bonuses.

Speaking at an EU leaders' summit, Merkel also said she was sympathetic towards the idea of restricting excess bonuses but noted that German tax law was complex on the issue.

Merkel also said Germany was ready to contribute 420 million euros in climate aid to developing countries.
