* Japan and U.S. have not yet reached aviation agreement

* Minister says to talk one more day to work out details (Adds details)

TOKYO Dec 11 (Reuters) - Japanese Transport Minister Seiji Maehara said on Friday that Japan and the United States have not yet reached an agreement on bilateral aviation talks.

The two countries have been in talks for an "open skies" treaty that would allow airlines to work more closely together on pricing, scheduling and marketing on routes between the U.S. and Japan.

They had been scheduled to reach a basic agreement on Thursday.

"We will talk for one more day," Maehara told a news conference. "We need to finalise details about slots at Narita Airport and technical issues on the open skies accord."

The prospect of the treaty is one of the factors behind rival attempts by American Airlines and Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) to court Japan Airlines 9205.T with offers of investment and business ties. [ID:nT194302] (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo, Taiga Uranaka; Editing by Nathan Layne)
