FRANKFURT/SAN FRANCISCO | Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:05pm EST

FRANKFURT/SAN FRANCISCO Dec 14 (Reuters) - Google Inc (GOOG.O) will sell a version of its own-branded cellphone for a reduced price to consumers who agree to a service contract from Deutsche Telekom's (DTEGn.DE) T-Mobile USA, a source familiar with the matter said.

The phone, manufactured by HTC (2498.TW), has a number of code names such as HTC Passion, Dream or Nexus One, and could be available to consumers directly though the Google website as early as Jan. 5, the source said.
