(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1030 GMT (5:30 a.m. EST) on Tuesday.

KABUL - A suicide car bomber killed seven people in an attack outside a hotel used mostly by foreigners in the diplomatic enclave of the capital, Kabul, an official said. The attack, which wounded 44, was also near a former vice president's residence.

GARDEZ - Four Afghans and a Nepali were killed in a blast in Gardez, capital of southeastern Paktia province, officials said. The blast occurred at the offices of Development Alternatives Inc., a contractor working on U.S. government-funded aid projects.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - A U.S. service member was killed by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.

ZABUL - A joint Afghan and international force detained a Taliban commander and other militants in southern Zabul province, ISAF said.
