Indian shares extend gains to more than 2 pct

MUMBAI Dec 23 (Reuters) - Indian shares extended their gains to more than 2 percent in afternoon trade, led by Reliance Industries (RELI.BO) and Infosys Technologies (INFY.BO), with firm global markets supporting sentiment.

At 12:19 p.m. (0649 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 2.13 percent at 17,048.73 points, with all components advancing.

The 50-share NSE Index .NSEI was up 2.2 percent at 5,098.50. (Reporting by Narayanan Somasundaram; Editing by John Mair)
