Indian shares provisionally close up 3.3 pct

MUMBAI Dec 23 (Reuters) - Indian shares provisionally closed 3.26 percent higher on Wednesday as investors placed bets on better outlooks for banks and metals stocks and as firm global markets underpinned sentiment.

The 30-share BSE index .BSESN provisionally ended up 544.36 points at 17,236.36, with all its components advancing.

The 50-share NSE index .NSEI provisionally closed up 3.22 percent at 5,146.60 points. (Reporting by Ami Shah; Editing by John Mair)
