MUMBAI Dec 24 (Reuters) - Indian shares extended gains to 1 percent on Thursday afternoon, led by in Reliance Industries (RELI.BO) and Tata Motors (TAMO.BO), with firm global markets underpinning the positive sentiment.

At 2:36 p.m. (0906 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 0.94 percent at 17,392.41 points, with 27 of its components advancing, having earlier risen 1.06 percent.

The 50-share NSE Index .NSEI was up 0.9 percent at 5,189.35. (Reporting by Ami Shah)
