TOKYO |
TOKYO Dec 24 (Reuters) - Japan's Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd (5713.T) said it had agreed on a treatment charge of $46.5 a tonne and a refining charge of 4.65 cents per pound with Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc (FCX.N) for 2010 fees.
A Sumitomo Metal Mining official said the company had only reached a decision with Freeport.
"Talks are still taking place with BHP," the official said.
One Japanese copper smelter official said BHP Billiton Plc/Ltd (BHP.AX)(BLT.L) was demanding even lower copper processing fees than Freeport for next year. (Reporting by Miho Yoshikawa)
