CANADA STOCKS-TSX falls as gold miners weigh

TORONTO Dec 29 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index fell on Tuesday, led by a drop in the materials sector as shares of gold miners suffered from a slide in the price of bullion.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 57.56 points, or 0.49 percent, at 11,697.05. (Reporting by John McCrank; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
