WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said it had notified Congress of a possible sale of enhanced guided bomb units, parts, training and other support to the United Arab Emirates for about $290 million.

The agency said in a notice posted Tuesday on its website that the UAE government had requested the weapons and the principal contractors were Raytheon Co and the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

The Pentagon unit that administers overseas arms sales said the proposed deal would support the prior sale of F-16 aircraft to the UAE, strengthening the security of a U.S. partner.

Also announced was the possible sale of logistics support and training for 12 C-130J transport aircraft to the UAE. That deal had a value of about $119 million, the Pentagon said, with Lockheed Martin Corp listed as the principal contractor.
