HOUSTON (Reuters) - A worker died from an apparent fall on Friday morning at LyondellBasell's Houston refinery, a company spokesman said.

The worker was found at about 8:30 a.m. CST (1430 GMT) in a non-process area of the refinery, Lyondell spokesman David Harpole said. The worker was taken to a Houston hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The refinery was operating normally on Friday and there were no production malfunctions or chemical releases, Harpole said.

Houston police and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating the accident along with Lyondell, he said.

Structures surrounding where the worker was found are between 80 feet and 100 feet in height, Harpole said.
