BAGHDAD Jan 25 (Reuters) - At least one large explosion was heard in central Baghdad on Monday, ending a relatively calm period without a major assault on the Iraqi capital.

One bomb blast appeared to have occurred near the Ishtar Sheraton hotel on the eastern side of the Tigris river, and the shock wave blew open doors and sent a cloud of dust into the Reuters offices nearby. (Reporting by Michael Christie; Editing by Louise Ireland)
