DETROIT Jan 28 (Reuters) - Chrysler said on Thursday some of its models use pedals made by CTS Corp (CTS.N) -- the supplier at the center of a massive recall by Toyota -- but said the pedals produced for the company have a different specification and design than the ones produced for Toyota.

In addition to Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T), CTS supplies accelerator pedals to automakers including Chrysler and Ford Motor Co (F.N). It does not sell pedals to General Motors Co [GM.UL].

Toyota has recalled 2.3 million vehicles for sticky accelerator pedals made by CTS and has shut down sales and production of eight models while it works on a fix.

"Accelerator pedals produced by CTS Automotive for Chrysler Group LLC vehicles are a different specification and design and are manufactured using different production tooling and materials than the pedals produced for Toyota," Chrysler said in a statement.

Chrysler did not identify the models for which CTS manufactures pedals. Chrysler representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Earlier on Thursday, Ford and joint venture partner Jiangling Motors Corp (000550.SZ) said they halted China production of full-size Transit Classic diesel commercial vans equipped with CTS pedals. [ID:nN2898659] (Reporting by Soyoung Kim; Editing by Steve Orlofsky)
