DAVOS-Kudrin says eurozone troubles won't weaken euro
DAVOS, Switzerland |
DAVOS, Switzerland Jan 28 (Reuters) - Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Thursday he did not expect problems with eurozone members such as Greece to affect the stability of a currency which will continue to strengthen.
"There may be some fluctuations if there are problems with these countries staying in the eurozone, but the euro will not become a less stable currency," he told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
"I think that euro has so many advantages. There are problems for some countries but these advantages will keep the euro as a stable currency," he said, adding he expected the currency to strengthen "in time".
Kudrin added he had no plans for significant changes to Russia's reserves policy. The country does not hold any paper from weaker eurozone members as they do not meet ratings requirements, he said.
