Seoul shares open up; automakers advance on sales

SEOUL Feb 3 (Reuters) - Seoul shares opened higher on Wednesday helped by better than expected U.S. earnings and economic data, with automakers such as Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) leading gains after reporting solid January U.S. sales.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index .KS11 (KOSPI) rose 1.21 percent to 1,615.08 points as of 0004 GMT.
