Riversdale plans Mozambique coal exports by 2011

CAPE TOWN Feb 3 (Reuters) - Riversdale Mining RIV.AX plans to start exporting 2.0 million tonnes of coal from Mozambique by end of 2011 and will increase this amount to 5.0 million tonnes by 2013, a company executive said on Wednesday.

Riversdale's Chief Financial Officer Niall Lenahan told Reuters at a mining conference in Cape Town the company would also seek joint venture partners to build a 500 megawatts coal-powered plant to export electricity to South Africa. (Reporting by Shapi Shacinda; Editing by James Macharia)
