KIEV (Reuters) - Results from Ukraine's Central Election Commission show that with only 1.58 percent of the vote yet to be counted, Viktor Yanukovich was 2.79 percentage points ahead of rival Yulia Tymoshenko, who can no longer overtake him.

The Commission said on its Web site Yanukovich gained 48.60 percent of the vote and Tymoshenko 45.81 percent, with 98.42 percent of the vote counted.
