Brazil M&As seen rising 30-40 pct in 2010-banker

SAO PAULO Feb 11 (Reuters) - Mergers and acquisitions in Brazil, Latin America's largest economy, should rise between 30 percent and 40 percent this year from 2009, buoyed by growing activity in the agribusiness, retailing and financial industries, an industry executive said on Thursday.

Financing for combinations and corporate restructurings in Brazil this year will mainly come from the state-run development bank BNDES, Brazil's main source of long-term corporate lending, said Carolina Lacerda, head of the mergers and acquisitions committee at the Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets Entities.

The association is known as Anbima in Brazil. (Reporting by Elzio Barreto; Writing by Guillermo Parra-Bernal; Editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
